Class E 186 electric locomotive
The 160 km/h fast TRAXX racers of the (E) 186 series have not only conquered the high-speed route of the Dutch Railways (NS), but can also be found in the upscale express train service. The HVG trains V250 from AnsaldoBreda were actually intended for traffic on the Dutch high-speed line HSL-Zuid. Alternatively, however, rented E 186s designed for 160 km/h had to step in, which were used as planned on the Amsterdam – Schiphol – Rotterdam – Breda route from September 2009. After successful probation, today’s plans envisage the routing of all ICRm trains with PRIO wagons in sandwich traction (one locomotive at each end of the train) with the E 186. The NS currently have 20 rented E 186s and around 30 of the newly ordered E 186 001-045s at their disposal for this purpose.
